came back happily

Since I have changed my job, I am quite happy and in good mood. Last week I've got a work quite difficult and time-consuming, and I sacrificed my private knitting night time for whole weekend to meet its deadline, BUT I can feel rather I could learn many things by that and I am still happy. Actually it made me surprised, since I could scarcely find time to knit last week, and now I understand that I am relaxed more than before because this new job suits me well. I feel really lucky for now, and wish it would last long....

BTW, what do you think about this snake-like crappy twins?

electrafronts.JPG

Of course these are the both fronts of my respectable Electra cardi. Since I have knitted two pairs of baby socks for gift, I have been away from her awhile but I came back now, as promised. Today I casted on the first sleeve, I try to hurry up to complete for MY spring...

And this is the second and smaller baby socks for newborn:

minisock.JPG

I have sent them out both, the first pair for 6 months old and this second for newborn, last week to their mothers and they were both pleased and appreciated, it made my day bright.

So, I have to be back to my first sleeve...I heard some small voices calling from cotton yarn's busket but it is yet weak. I had better to finish Electra before that become deafening...

many things

Thank you ladies, I am now regaining. Today let me share the beauty of indredible package from my secret pal 7:

wrapped.JPG

These were all inside of one package. Each time when I receive her gift, I am really touched her careful wrapping and gentle messages both told and untold....

unwrapped.JPG

I unwrapped them and stunned....how beautiful! How generous! I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH! Beaded burgundy purse, silver plated photo frame, English teas I consume everyday, a knitting-image card, a heavenly soft ball of RYC Soft Lux lavender color, and friends, you want to look at this with me:

ocean.JPG

Yummy.....my mouse watered(joke)....she is living in England and she selected this increadibly gorgeous sock yarn around her local place. The brand name is "curious yarns" and the name of colorway is "ocean", woo-hoo! The photo cannot show the accurate color of yarn, it is soooo .....overwhelming. This is absolutely my yummiest sock yarn in my current stash. I actually so much in love with this yarn so I would not have any courage to use it....just for eye, for now. I put it with Soft Rux in my yarn bascket in the living loom, I admire them every day.....thank you thank you thank you, my pal!!

But after this package, she even sent me this:

marker.jpg

Gorgeous stitch markers, handmade by herself!! Wow! These are small ones and good for smaller progects like sock or fine yarns. Hey, I am so lucky my pal is so vastly generous, nice....thank you again, my pal! I really, really love your gifts!

So....I had better grounding a bit. But I cannot, when I am dreaming my coming spring/summer projects...I've got the yarns for them, I am ready now for:

gwenplan.jpg

Gwen. The yarn is same as original, Rowan's handknit DK cotton but slightly different shade. Mine is rather turcoise blue.

tankplan.jpg

Sea Horse: without sea horse for mine. So it should be turned out a simple tank. The yarn is like for Gwen, same as original, Cotton Glace but other shade. This time mine is eggplant deep purple.

I have so much more project plans in my head, but always I am so late for current season's new designs to knit, so this time I would start by the newest seasonal design!

But for now...last week I just happened to hear that my dear friend who was recently expanded enoumously had got her baby girl, so I am knitting this:

bebesock.jpg

Visibly I am knitting two pairs of baby sock. The complete bigger one is for another friend's 6-months baby boy, and the smaller one is for newborn girl. Let me explain: I started for the newborn but it turned out that it is a bit too big for her, and I remembered that I had to knit another gift for another baby and started a cashmerino hat in February, but could not get an opportunity to meet the mother at that time and the winter passed by, I abondoned that wool hat imcompleted. So far I decided to give this socks for him, besides the yarn is a new cotton blend sock yarn from Italy. That is perfect for everyone, isn't it??

And just for your info, my Electra is resting aside while I knit these tiny bits, but don't worry I made my resolution to complete Electra BEFORE starting any other spring project. Oh you bet I can't. you know me....we'll see, next time!

Job transition

For a about one past year, I have been working in the handcraft industry. At the end of February, I have quitted the job and started the new one from March.

Why? The most biggest reason is that I realised that I would never get the assignment I wanted to, which has not yet existed in the company but have been supposed to be one day. And my working condition has been changed dramatically since last autumn, so I cannot work full-time for some more years. Under the situation, if I keep staying in the company, I have to devote even my private night time to handle all the task and lose the knitting time, and my job is not what I want to do.

My new job has completely no relation to any handcraft or knitting, but I am now happier. Minimum I can keep my time for knitting at night, and adding to that, I can get 1 hour free before leaving home every morning!

And I keep knitting my Electra:

back.JPG

I finished the back and started the left front. This is amasingly quick knitting, and fun.

BTW, every time I knit Rowan pattern, always the number of stitches of back and front shoulders are different, and it really annoying me because normally I do three-needle binding. It is much more easier and very neat. So always I adjust the shoulder stitch numbers to do it and at the same time do short-row method.

I am used to do it so it is OK, but this time the problem is that the short-row part bumped into the fair-isle rows. GEE! I though bravely tried it and made it:

short.JPG

You have to somewhat adjust some stitches without color changing, but anyway it looks short-row(even if it's messy!). After finishing it, I felt victory just an instant, before realizing that I have to do it for both front shoulders....sigh.

Electra issue

My last post was Feb 22, just one week before from now as usual. It is my usual pace for the blog posting but this time it contains something unusual for me.

First, look at this:

electra.JPG

This is Electra, the cover photo design of Rowan #38. Around a week ago, suddenly I was hooked by this, and decided that I had to knit this. I have knitted a that kind of stripy slipover last winter, so I want to make a Electra cardigan(there is both pattern for slipover and cardi), with this cover's colorway. I love this looks. So I went to my local Rowan shop to get the exact yarn.

When I first tried to find out the actual yarn for the yarn A, I was stunned. the yarns called by this colorway are:

yarn A Yorkshire Tweed DK Revel 342(under rib and biggest part of this slipover)
yarn B Felted Tweed Midnight 133(blacky dark part)
yarn C Kidsilk Haze Splendour 579(pink narrow stripe)
yarn D Felted Tweed Melody 142(whity light part)

I thought the yarn A should be kind of deep rose, with a bit red-burgundy scent, from the cover photo. The real yarn is SO MUCH purplish strong pink, like cyclamen's pink. The shop even had the very sample garment and showed it to me, it is so, so far away from my image. The slipover is completely pinky-PURPLE, not burgundy. That is NOT what I want. Definitely I cannot use that Yorkshire tweed yarn for my cardi.

So far I tried to construct a colorway which suits my own image of the garment. The below is this:

yarn A Felted Tweed 144 (deep red)
yarn B Felted Tweed Midnight 133(same as original)
yarn C Kidsilk Spray Regal 574(pink variegated)
yarn D Felted Tweed Melody 142(same as original)

How do you think? I am quite happy with these, actually so happy and excited, it made me do that:

shimashima.JPG

Normally my post makes excuses why my project doesn't show any progress or why I cannot find time to knit, but this time, my WIP is really less than one week old. I didn't hide it before. I had casted on last Friday and knitting this is SO enjoyable, and miraculously my DS team gave me a good time to knit calmly last Saturday, as a result I now reached to sleeve decrease. And lt looks as I expected.

Besides, this design looks like fair-isle, but actually it is just a combination of simple stripes and so-little fair-isle. The yarns normally calls US#6(4mm) needles but this pattern requires to use US#7(4.5mm) for the body. The knitted garment is very light weight and soft, I love that too.

When I bought the yarn I've got an idea somewhere in my head that it might not the appropriate time to start a new winter project, since I am the person who knit other fiber than wool, for being suitable to the actual season. Now I should start for spring and summer seaason...
This time though, I just cannot stop myself and the urge was so overwhelming. But this is progressing now very fast, it makes me a bit relieved. Of course you cannot know in advance what is happening next, you know....

BTW I am showing my hourglass sweater's progress:

horglass2.JPG

Now I have just passed tne second increasing round. It is easy going knit so I knit it in bit moments sneaked from day's errands. Slowly progressing.

After the Bobby sweater off the needles, even before joining them, I have casted on it:

jaywalkerwip.JPG

My Jaywalker! with the new yarn from Etzy shop. Now this is my WIP on the go after Bobby. Oh yes, I have to join it...(lazy me!)

Other than that, I frogged a WIP scarf and some others to tidy up my WIP's sloppy status. Adding to the above, OF COURSE I am now planning my spring projects!! Yeah, I am hopeless. I know.
