Happy New Year and knitting

For the first post of 2006, I show you ALL my current WIPs honestly including some which I have not yet shown you until now. However, the first photo is my last FO of 2005, this miserable Clapotis:

foclapotis.JPG

Actually the drop stitches are not yet fixed up, but ladies, you can SEE clearly what I wanted to tell you last time. I really thought I had to rip it out completely to restart, but Just the fragility of the yarn dissuades me from doing it. This half wool and half silk yarn is soooo delicate and, even when I knitted, the yarn surface started to become a little fluffy. When I began to drop stitches, it sometimes, often enough, was entangled side by side in rows. So it looks too risky to frog all the project. I gave up and continued with this COMPLETELY defferent color's yarn and finished.
Let me know what you think about this scarf.Thanks.

Against my resolution in December, I cannot finish this Bobby sweater yet. Just started the first sleeve. I though try to make it within this winter.

Airy scarf is the half way around. I just leave it aside, the priority is not so high.

My Bohus is not advancing fast. It was a pleasure to knit this tiny Bohus cuff, and after that I've got some urgent projects. I am looking forward to knitting it...

And from now on, these are hidden-until-now projects:

shirts1.JPG

This is a scarf of Rowan big wool and kidsilk night. Strange looking. Want to see the close-up?

Each two rows you change the yarn, and knit it with a certain stitch pattern I cannot explain. This pattern was provided from our local Rowan shop, a knitting teacher who teaches there invented this scarf. I wanted to try, and I found the pattern is not difficult and I like kidsilk night, but now I am busy for knitting other WIPS.

phildar.JPG

A sweater for my 6 yrs DS. Pattern provided from Phildar Enfants, the yarn is also Phildar Mouflon(white one) and an acrylic cheap yarn(blue variagated). One day in December I found myself casting on it when I was tidying up my knitting book shelf. Just an impulsive action. 8mm needles.

What's that?? This is a sweater for DH, casted on last year....when? Oh I don't know. Shame on me. I have to knit this. Really. You know, it doesn't mean I don't love him. Hey.

wipbonnet.JPG

This is the newest WIP, casted on yesterday. A hat for DS. This winter he has refused to put on winter hat, but these very cold days he declared that he would accept red hat which is not itchy. He will return to school on January 5th, so far I am knitting this now. For that purpose I chose Rowan cork, which is red, knit up fast, not itchy. Pattern found at online free patterns for kids.

This is first FO of 2006 and also PUCOWIPS-2, Sophie bag casted on in August 2005. I had to make just the second I-code for handle to finish, and I made it in last few days of December. This photo is before felting, and I washed it today. The smiling folk is for comparing the size with after felting.

So anyhow. Thanks for visiting my blog last year and drop me comments. I wish you all a happy knitty good year for 2006. I continue to knit and get yarns, show you here!!

????

I am a first time visitor to your blog. I enjoyed reading it very much, and will be back regularly. You are an accomplished knitter and an interesting writer as well!

I am so sorry for the color problem with the yarn for your Clapotis. I have had that happen before as well, and so I tend to overbuy for projects, leaving me with a lot of leftover yarn...better too much, I suppose.

Hope your New Year is wonderful!

Blessings,
Susie

I had fun looking through your WIPs and Sophie bag. They are all very nice and i like the variety of yarn that you have.
As for the Clapotis i think you should just wear it and be proud. The colors are the same, just a bit darker.
I like that combination of the Rowan big wool and kidsilk night, it produces a very interesting result.

Hello, I have read your blog for a little over a year now. I enjoy it very much.

I am so so sorry your Clapotis yarn doesn't match! I suppose that you could keep an eye out for a skein of that yarn with the more subdued colors and maybe someday re-knit that section. But really, I agree with Susie, wear it and be proud. It was a lot of work and you did a beautiful job!

I am so excited - I will be visiting Japan for the first time in April. I am visiting with a group so I can't go too far outside our scheduled plans. We are visiting our sister city town, Kakegawa, then going to Kyoto and Nara. Do you know of any good yarn stores in that area? There are people on the trip who can help me with specific directions.

Thank you for sharing all your knitting adventures, and good luck with all your WIPs!

Glad to see you finished your Clapotis. It is going to be nice and warm to wear, never mind the dyelot difference because you will be draping it around you, so it will not be that noticeable. The bohus is fascinating.

Hi ladies, thank you so much for your kind comments and compliments. Actually I am wearing Clapotis these days and it really is warm, and I am very glad to wear it, I don't care the color. Who cares if I don't? For the Bohus currently not much progress, but It does beautiful project! Welcome Susie and Julie, thank you for coming!
