Merry Christmas and some knitty disaster

This year through the christmas weekend, I sneaked bit moments to knit just some stitches or rows. For what?

black pearl2.JPG

The ebay seller has dispatched the yarn really quickly, I received it almost immediately from US. It is nice. The seller is nice too. Which isn't so nice is, the yarn itself.

It is of course very beautiful, half silk and half wool gorgeous Lorna's Laces yarn. But unfortunately, really unfortunately "Black Pearl" 's shade varies vastly. This one's color is VERY different from my Clapotis. I know, I have accepted it in advance that very likely happen, so I anyway ordered the yarn. And It HAPPENED very badly. My Clapotis color is more gentle, lavender purple colors. The new skein's purple is very vivid pansy mauve. The other colorways also all very different, strong, vivid tone.

Gee.....but I have no other way to save my Clapotis. I have no idea to rip out the project which drops many stitches intensionally, so I must go on. I bought the same yarn which is same shade, but other lot and hand dyed.

I started somehow, and it looks quite disasterous. More than clearly the color is different.....I will show you next time this tragic Clapotis.

Other than that, I've made some stash enhancement with this Lion& Lamb:

Araucania's Nature Wool. It is a try and the colorway is slighty greener than imagined, but it feels soft enough for next to skin. This is for a turtle neck sporty sweater appeared in Vogue Knitting Winter. In the book it was 3 colors version but I want simple color.
I just don't know when I can cast it on...

Shortage

Last Wednesday I happily knitted my Clapotis, hurrying to complete. And suddenly, I doubt if I have the yarn enough. It was around the second circle of the decreasing section. At first I thought it isn't possible, for I bought the original yarn of the pattern, the required quantity, 3 skeins of Lion & Lamb. But apparently, it became clear that I cannot finish the priject due to lack of yarn. Oh-ah. But why?? I counted correctly the number of stitches when the increasing section finished, and I repeated the straight section as it should be, I believe...but, even if I repeated the pattern once more than the original, that I wonder, the yarn doesn't look enough for finishing the project.

My poor Clapotis is so far now waiting for arriving the yarn. You know, the yarn isn't a cheap one, and I have to order to US...and of course, I absolutely cannot get the same lot now...Gee. I am so dissapointed, so I needed something to console my sadness....you know...I bought some more yarns at the same time!!! Will show you what it is, when it arrives.

And, now I am obliged to start the Bohus kit(YEY!)before finishing Clapotis against my resolution, so far.

Actually the pattern is simple and just for cuffs, I am sooooo enjoying to knit it! Wanna see close-up?

As the pattern requires to use wool & mohair togather throughout the project, the color transforms softly and beautifully. I reduced the stitches for I want fitted gloves instead of roomy mittens, so it would appear differently. anyway I am hooked now, I have to be careful not to forget my Clapotis, and other WIPs.

Year end plan

First, I want to let you know that the kit I showed you in last post is, corrently pointed out by Luann in her comment, "Bohus" knitting. Actually this winter there are three Bohus kit appears from Hobbyra Hobbyre, this mittens, hat and scarf. All Bohus pattern is the same one, created by a Japanese male knitter, Toshiyuki Shimada. Well. I love knitting gloves so I've got the mittens kit, but I don't know if someone want to knit the scarf one, which requires twice 10 cm's Bohus pattern and the length of scarf by simple stockinette stitch with 2.75mm needles...

BTW, I am NOT YET casting on that mittens/gloves. Incredible. For I have decided not to start this before finishing my Clapotis. I have two more WIP scarves now, but these are not on stage. I am hurry to finish Clapotis at night, and every morning in the bus going to work, I knit my baby's Bobby sweater which is now 2/3 of the front completed. Now Clapotis is final stage, just entered in decreasing section. I wanted to show you today as FO proudly, but could not....

Anyway, my plan is that: I finish Clapotis within this week, and I let myself cast on the Bohus. When Clapotis is completed, I have yet around 10 days or so by the end of the year. I accelerate for Bobby to finish within the year. Before the end of new year holiday, I try to finish Bohus....sounds unreasonable??
Fortunately(in the aspect of year-end knitting planning, I mean), I am Japanese living in Japan, so I don't need to count Chirstmas busy madness for family and relatives. In Japan we have been in very festive mood by decolation of show windows with beautiful trees and santas after Halloween, but it is just the appearance and gift selling strategy, for it is not a real "Japanese" cultural event. In my case, I just prepare some gifts only for my DH and kids, will make a intimate original dinner, make or buy a cake for kids, that's all I do for Christmas(DH take care of small imitation tree for kids). No cards, no relative visitings, no parties and no mountain of gifts to prepare.

A-N-Y-W-A-Y, we will see...

non-productive days

These days actually I have devoted all my spare time to sleep. Normally after kids went to bed, it is my time for one or two hours at night, but recently when I try my baby to sleep, literally I cannnot stay awake, and every time I failed to get my prcious night time for knit....

Yesterday so far I asked my DH to check and wake me up if I didn't come out from bed room, and I took some photos for this blog entry and asked him also to put them into files so that I could make my entry easily, and brought my baby to bed around 9pm. I don't know when but I lost my consciousness into sleep with him just as the other days, and when I opened my eyes next time, it was 1:38am in the dark. My DH wasn't aside of me, I thought he just forgot to check me in watching DVD films on PC as usual. I felt dissapointed and too late to get up, I changed to pajamas and went into bed again. This morning when I accused him, he told me that he tried to wake me up three times, each time I opened my eyes and said I would come, and for third time I looked even annoyed and KICKED him.

That story embarasses me because, I have completely no memory about it. Ugh.

Well. anyway tonight I stay awake, I can show you my recent shopping:

kit.jpg

This is a mitten kit from Hobbyra Hobbyre, Japanese crafty company. The mitten's pattern follows traditional Sweddish knitting technique. Sorry I cannot find the spell of that technique's name, it is look like Fair-Isle pattern but it includes purl stitches on it. Looks challenging for me but I have used to knit gloves and mittens, and that special technique is used only for cuffs. Besides, I really love that colorways. Want to look the yarns?

Gorgeous, isn't it?? I bought it for my winter holiday. The pattern is for a pair of mittens, but I will make gloves. In the meantime, I have to complete three scarves and a baby sweater...
