My first spring FO!

This is the status of Grace cardi Yesterday morning:

Three buttons left unsewed...and in the evening I completed:

Yey!! Finally three years WIP has completed! I am very happy about it first, and second I am glad that the length of sleeves are perfect and it fits me nicely...this hay-like relaxed color suits jeans very well, and I like this gentle tone.

So, what's next? That's it:

This is Flame, from Rowan magazine #31. I will make shoulder to normal bind-off, and the bottom to little rib. You ask me the yarn?

Silk Purse of Alchemy yarn, Rust Red. Yummy!! And also, now I am knitting a swatch with Debbie Bliss's Cotton Cashmere for Bardot Sweater, to get gauge. It is the first time for me to knit whis this yarn, and it surprised me a little...it is rather solid and linen-like feeling than imagined. I would try to knit both the Flame tank and Bardot Sweater....I simply cannot get patience to knit one by one!

I AM KNITTING

Thank you so much ladies, who gave me kind words. I came back! Yes, I CAN KNIT!!

I am now just frantically knitting, knitting and joining seams. Last week I have been recovering slowly from illness, and now I aimed to complete my Grace cardi this Thursday. Why? Because I want to put it on on Friday for work. This coming Friday is an important day for me.
I will reveal the reason one day.

In the meantime, I have to join the sleeves, and weave in all yarnends, since I have finished the knitting part. Today I finish sewing both sleeve, and tomorrow and Wednesday I will set in these sleeves, Thursday I weave loose ends.

So far no photos today. Next time I will show you my Grace cardi completed, I promise.

Cotton!

Last weekend, I complete the fist sleeve of Elise:

elisesleeve.jpg

And, as soon as I casted off the edge, I finally grabbed cotton yarn. I have not yet finished my Elise, I have to knit the left and front part and another sleeve with its frill, BUT I cannot stand anymore, not knitting the cotton. so I did:

wipgrace.jpg

No no, I didn't knit them all. This might calls something to some of you, who have read my old blog. Maybe you remember this photo:

This is a cardi named Grace, in Rowan #27, my favorite volume. I have casted on this cardi in the summer of 2003. Yup. 2003! Two years-old wIP. Hey, I returned to you! The yarn is Porto Cervo in Jeans, by Filatura di Crosa. I have knitted the back in 2003, then left front in 2004 summer. Now I am knitting the right front. I say, THIS SPRING I FINISH THIS CARDI PERIOD. This is my first spring/summer project of this year and it is my resolution. I am dying to try Debbie Bliss's Cotton Cashmere, but I forbid myself to do before completing this cardi. Actually, I am enjoying very much to knit the cotton. I LOVE cotton yarn! And I am wondering if I would rip the back a little to adjust the side length and shoulder part. It looks a bit longer than the fronts and I want to do three needles bind off for the shoulder, but now I cannot do it due to the differences of the number of stitches of back and front. So....

BTW, today is "White Day" in Japan, a reversed day of St. Valentine's day. Here in Japan, February 14th is eslecially for an occation to do a gift from girls to boys, and today March 14th is the day for boys to girls. I received this from my DH:

A bunch of red roses! Wow! Well, it is nice of him!! I so would be considering to cast on his summer sweater soon, for instance....Ha ha!

Winter's last FOs

Last weekend I could sneak a little time to knit, and I actually finished my gloves:

gantsfo.jpg

Though, winter is now ending and yesterday and today, Tokyo is very warm and many, many people including me have gotten hey fever, it's the season. What I want to say is, no point to try these gloves now. I am just relieved that I anyhow finished this. I like my gloves perfectly fit, so I made this that way, but I am not sure if I would keep this for myself for next winter, or just I might give it away to someone one day....

Also the last weekend I finally set the sleeves to the sweater which has been long left, forgotten and found unfinished.

pulfo.JPG

To my surprise, this shoulder looks very square, like the one of jacket. I made these sleeves short intensionally, it is very comvenient, but it is also too winter-ish sweater for now. The yarn is quite thick and heavy.

AFter that, this week until today I have not been knitting more than two or three rows, since my baby has gotten a cold AGAIN and I cannot sleep well at night. Ugh...

Stash enhancement for spring

This week when I had time and force for knitting, I tried to get Elise cardi. But not much progress, since I haven't had much time nor force. So no photo for WIP, instead just look at my recent SE:

cottoncashmere.jpg

Cotton Cashmere, of Debbie Bliss. with Teracotta one, I want to make this:

bardot.jpg

Bardot Sweater from her book number five. I like this sleeve, just a half length. It should be one of my comimg spring/summer projects for this year.

And this weekend, I am planning to knit 1)right glove, 2)finish a sleeve of Elise cardi, and 3)starting a spring project. I know always I plan too much to do....sigh.

knitting invitation

At my working place, there is a girl who is doing the same kind of job as me. She works really hard, very serious and intense. In the morning when I arrive at office, she has already been working. When I leave office, she is yet working diligently. She works even in weekends. Her work is always perfect, she is a very kind and bright person, but often she's got sick and doesn't seem happy. I've got an impression that, she is not a simple workaholic, rather she doesn't know what to do to fill in her life.

Weeks ago, when I brought my AbFab shawl to the office, her eyes grew wide and she admired it heartily, with dreamy face. After that, I decided that I would try to get her knit with me.

One day I insisted her without offering any reason that she should KNIT. At first she seemed no specific interest in knitting, and tried to say no politely, but I didn't let her do it, I almost forced her to be convinced. She promised me to consider to knit some baby stuff for her sister's baby due in autumn. The day after, when she tried again to tell me finally she didn't think she could make it, I didn't listen to her, instead I showed her some knitting magazines, Erika Knight's beautiful baby knitting books and Rowan patterns. That intrigued her. Finally she decided to try to knit a baby blanket.

I helped her to choose yarn and order them. I arranged the original pattern of blanket to adjust her yarn weight, and wrote it down in Japanese. And this week we have received the package of the yarn, today at lunch time I taught her how to cast on.

I know my pushy and unkind way is not good, but anyway it worked until now. I can't know now if she could enjoy knitting. I just wish, that it could become something joyful, confortable to do, make her relax, happier than now... Today at least she looked a bit positive to knit and she was very happy with the yarn. We will see...

BTW, I finished a left glove:

gantfo.jpg

For fingers I used only alpaca yarn. The colorway is very beautiful...thank you again, my secret pal!
